Setareh Rafiei, 19 years old, was killed by gunfire on January 8, 2026, in Tehran Pars, east of Tehran.
In videos released from her memorial ceremony at Behesht-e Zahra in Tehran, attended by family, relatives, and a group of citizens, attendees lit candles and chanted slogans to honor her and others who died in the January protests.
Setareh Rafiei was the niece of Arashk Rafiei, a composer of Iranian music.
At the ceremony, Sepideh Jandaghi, a singer and musician, and Saeed Hametian, a ney player, performed the song "Az Khoon-e Javanan-e Vatan Laleh Damideh" in her memory.
