Hamid Reza Arest was a blacksmith and welder who joined the Peykar Organization. He was arrested and tried in Rasht, subsequently serving his sentence at the Rasht Naval Prison. He lost his life due to burns and smoke inhalation during a prison fire in Esfand 1361 (February/March 1983). During the blaze-which was caused by an electrical fault-prison guards refused to open the doors for the inmates and threatened to kill those attempting to save themselves.
Hamid Reza Arest was killed alongside five of his fellow inmates.
