Milad Afrookhteh, a football goalkeeper and youth team coach in Rasht, has been killed by gunfire from government forces of the Islamic Republic.
Born in 1992 in Rasht, Milad Afrookhteh had recently moved to the city of Sanger, near Rasht, for work and living. During the 2010s, he played as a goalkeeper for provincial league teams in Gilan and, in recent years, began working with youth and junior football teams in Rasht after obtaining a coaching certificate.
It has been reported that on 8 January 2026, Milad Afrookhteh went to the streets to participate in protests and was shot on Motahari Street in Rasht. People immediately attempted to assist him and transport him to the hospital, but he passed away en route.
Additionally, it has been reported that his family was compelled to bury his body at night without the presence of friends and relatives, under the supervision of security forces. It is said that the family of this youth football coach is under pressure from security agencies and is not allowed to hold mourning ceremonies or display flags and black cloth. They have reportedly been threatened multiple times to prevent the news of Milad Afrookhteh's death from spreading.

میلاد افروخته متولد 1371 در رشت بود و در سال های اخیر برای زندگی و کار به شهر سنگر، در نزدیکی رشت، نقل مکان کرده بود. او در دهه 1390 به عنوان دروازه بان تیم های لیگ استانی گیلان فعالیت می کرد و در سال های گذشته با دریافت مدرک مربیگری، کار با تیم های فوتبال پایه و رده های نوجوانان و جوانان در شهر رشت را آغاز کرده بود.
گزارش شده است که میلاد افروخته در 18 دی 1404 برای شرکت در اعتراضات به خیابان رفت و در خیابان مطهری رشت هدف شلیک قرار گرفت. مردم بلافاصله برای کمک به او اقدام کردند تا او را به بیمارستان برسانند، اما در مسیر درگذشت.
همچنین گزارش شده است که خانواده او مجبور شدند پیکر وی را شبانه و بدون حضور دوستان و اقوام و با حضور نیروهای امنیتی به خاک بسپارند. گفته شده است که خانواده این مربی فوتبال پایه تحت فشار نهادهای امنیتی قرار دارند و اجازه برگزاری مراسم سوگواری یا نصب پرچم و پارچه سیاه را ندارند و برای جلوگیری از انتشار خبر کشته شدن میلاد افروخته بارها تهدید شده اند.
