Hassan Fallah, a 45-year-old resident of Karaj originally from Eslamabad-e Gharb, lost his life during public protests in January 2026 following gunfire from authorities. The death certificate cited "impact from hard or sharp objects" as the cause of death, with the place of death recorded as Karaj on 8 January 2026. However, his burial permit mentioned "gunshot wound" as the cause of death.
Reports indicate that on the evening of 8 January 2026, Hassan Fallah participated in public protests in Karaj with a group of friends. During these protests, near the Mesbah intersection in Karaj, as people attempted to break through the barriers surrounding the city's prayer hall, a sniper targeted him, shooting him in the leg.
Hassan Fallah's wife, observing from a distance, identified him and, with the help of bystanders, attempted to move him over the wall of the Karaj prayer hall to distance him from the conflict. Due to the circumstances and the heavy presence of security forces, most passing vehicles did not dare to stop and assist the injured. Eventually, his wife managed with great difficulty to transport Hassan Fallah to a nearby hospital, but they were refused admission and took him home. They then used a friend's vehicle to reach Ghaem Hospital in Karaj.
According to informed sources, upon arrival at Ghaem Hospital, medical staff managed to restore the injured man's heartbeat through serum injection and cardiopulmonary resuscitation, after which Hassan Fallah was taken to the operating room. However, his family was informed of his death on the morning of 9 January 2026.
It was reported that later that day, security forces stationed at the hospital informed the family that the body had been transferred to Behesht Sakineh, the cemetery in Karaj. At Behesht Sakineh, the family encountered numerous bodies of deceased individuals awaiting burial. They waited in a long queue to identify Hassan Fallah's photo among the images of the deceased and proceed with the process of claiming his body based on the attached identification tag.
Despite receiving a burial permit, the family was unable to obtain permission for burial in Karaj. Due to the high number of deceased, no ambulance was available for the family, and they were told to wait until the following day.
Hassan Fallah's body was handed over to the family two days later on 11 January. Ultimately, the family was only able to secure a burial permit from Eslamabad-e Gharb on the condition that the burial take place in Hassan Fallah's ancestral village of Kahreh in Helilan County, Ilam Province. The washing and shrouding of his body were conducted at Behesht Rezvan in Eslamabad-e Gharb, but the body was transported for burial to a county over 550 kilometres from the deceased protester's place of residence.
حسن فلاح ۴۵ ساله، اهل اسلام آباد غرب و ساکن کرج، در جریان اعتراضات مردمی دی ماه ۱۴۰۴ در پی شلیک ماموران جان خود را از دست داد. در گواهی فوت علت مرگ "برخورد اجسام سخت یا تیز" اعلام و محل وفات کرج در تاریخ ۱۸ دی ۱۴۰۴ ثبت شده است. اما در جواز دفن او علت مرگ "اصابت گلوله سلاح گرم" ذکر شده است.
گزارش شده است که حسن فلاح شامگاه ۱۸ دی ۱۴۰۴ به همراه جمعی از دوستان خود در اعتراضات مردمی کرج شرکت کرده بود. در جریان این اعتراضات و در محدوده چهارراه مصباح کرج، زمانی که مردم برای شکستن حصارهای اطراف مصلای این شهر هجوم بردند، یک تک تیرانداز او را هدف قرار داد و گلوله ای به پای او شلیک کرد.
همسر حسن فلاح که از فاصله ای دور شاهد صحنه بود، او را شناسایی کرد و با کمک مردم حاضر در محل تلاش کرد حسن فلاح را از روی دیوار مصلای کرج عبور دهد و از محل درگیری دور کند. با توجه به شرایط و حضور گسترده نیروهای امنیتی، اغلب خودروهای گذری جرات توقف و سوار کردن مجروح را نداشتند. در نهایت، همسر او با سختی زیاد توانست حسن فلاح را به یکی از بیمارستان های نزدیک محل برساند، اما با عدم پذیرش از سوی بیمارستان مواجه شدند و به خانه منتقل کردند و سپس با خودروی یکی از آشنایان او را به بیمارستان قائم کرج رساندند.
به گفته منابع مطلع، در بدو ورود به بیمارستان قائم، کادر درمان با تزریق سرم و انجام عملیات احیای قلبی ریوی موفق شدند ضربان قلب مجروح را بازگردانند و پس از آن حسن فلاح به اتاق عمل منتقل شد. با این حال، بامداد ۱۹ دی ۱۴۰۴ خبر فوت وی به خانواده اعلام شد.
گزارش شده است که عصر همان روز نیروهای امنیتی مستقر در بیمارستان به خانواده اعلام کردند که پیکر به بهشت سکینه یا همان آرامگاه کرج منتقل شده است. خانواده در بهشت سکینه کرج با انبوهی از پیکرهای جان باختگان مواجه شدند که همگی آماده خاکسپاری بودند. خانواده در صفی طولانی منتظر تحویل پیکر عزیزشان ماندند و زمانی که نوبت به آنها رسید باید از میان تصاویر چهره کشته شده ها عکس حسن فلاح را شناسایی کرده و بر اساس پلاک ضمیمه روند تحویل پیکر او را پیگیری کنند.
با وجود دریافت مجوز دفن، خانواده موفق به دریافت مجوز خاکسپاری در کرج نشدند و به دلیل شمار بالای جان باختگان، آمبولانسی در دسترس خانواده قرار نگرفت و به آنان اعلام شد که باید تا روز بعد منتظر بمانند.
پیکر حسن فلاح دو روز بعد در تاریخ ۲۱ دی به خانواده تحویل داده شد. در نهایت، خانواده تنها به شرط خاکسپاری در روستای پدری حسن فلاح به نام "کهره" در شهرستان هلیلان از توابع استان ایلام موفق به دریافت جواز دفن از اسلام آباد غرب شدند. مراحل غسل و کفن پیکر او در "بهشت رضوان" اسلام آباد غرب انجام شد، اما پیکر برای خاکسپاری به شهرستانی با فاصله بیش از ۵۵۰ کیلومتر از محل زندگی این معترض جان باخته منتقل شد.
