Alireza Arghavani, a 21-year-old from Qom, had migrated to Tehran to work in the mechanical profession.
On January 8 and 9, he joined the protesters in the streets, and on January 9, he lost his life in Tehran due to direct fire from security forces.
His funeral, as well as the third and seventh-day memorial ceremonies, were held at the Imamzadeh 6 Cemetery outside the city of Qom, with a significant presence of Revolutionary Guard and police forces. His family was pressured to agree to declare him a "martyr" in order to receive his body. Additionally, the Qom provincial radio and television conducted a forced interview with them.
His fortieth-day memorial ceremony was also held under intense pressure, five days earlier than scheduled, on the previous Monday.

علیرضا ارغوانی ۲۱ ساله اهل قم بود و برای کار در حرفهٔ مکانیکی به تهران مهاجرت کرده بود.
در روزهای ۱۸ و ۱۹ دی ماه همراه با معترضان به خیابان آمد و در ۱۹ دی در تهران با شلیک مستقیم نیروهای سرکوبگر جان خود را از دست داد.
مراسم تشییع و همچنین مراسم سوم و هفتم او در قبرستان ۶ امام زاده قم خارج از شهر قم با حضور گستردهٔ نیروهای سپاه و انتظامی برگزار شد. خانواده اش تحت فشار مجبور شدند برای تحویل گرفتن پیکر با اعلام او به عنوان «شهید» موافقت کنند. همچنین صدا و سیمای استانی قم از آن ها مصاحبه ای اجباری تهیه کرد.
مراسم چهلم او نیز تحت فشار شدید پنج روز زودتر از موعد مقرر و در روز دوشنبه هفتهٔ گذشته برگزار شد.
