یوسف کاری، فعال مدنی اهل اردبیل، در سال های اخیر بارها بازداشت، احضار و محاکمه شده است. او در ۲۰ آبان ۱۴۰۴، همراه با چند فعال مدنی دیگر، مقابل زندان اوین بازداشت شد. گزارش ها حاکی از آن است که او مدتی در بازداشتگاه وزارت اطلاعات در سلول انفرادی نگهداری و سپس به زندان اوین منتقل شد. با وجود تعیین وثیقه برای آزادی موقت، گزارش ها از ادامه بازداشت و بلاتکلیفی قضایی او خبر می دهند. یوسف کاری همچنان در وضعیت بازداشت موقت قرار دارد.

On 3 August 2026, Branch 28 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court sentenced Yousef Kari to a total of 10 years' imprisonment on charges of "membership in a group with the intent to disrupt national security" and "assembly and collusion to commit crimes against national security."
Yousef Kari has remained in Hall 12 (the quarantine ward) of Ward 7 at Evin Prison for more than eight months since his arrest.
Yousef Kari, a civil activist from Ardabil, has been repeatedly arrested, summoned, and tried in recent years. On 20 November 2025, he was detained along with several other civil activists in front of Evin Prison. Reports indicate that he was held in solitary confinement at a detention centre of the Ministry of Intelligence before being transferred to Evin Prison. Despite bail being set for temporary release, reports suggest that he remains in detention with ongoing legal uncertainty. Yousef Kari continues to be held in temporary custody.

A Turkish (Azerbaijani) activist, he was arrested in front of Evin Prison on Tuesday 20th Aban 1404 (11th November 2025), and transferred to an undisclosed location.
On Sunday 12th Mordad 1404 (3rd August 2025), he was sentenced by Branch 2 of the Ardabil Criminal Court to pay 62 million and 200 thousand Tomans (=~US$700), part of which is in lieu of imprisonment and flogging.
On Wednesday 8th Mordad 1404 (30th July 2025), the court session to address the charges against Mr Yousef Kari, a Turk (Azerbaijani) activist, was held in Branch 104 of the Criminal Court Two in the city of Ardabil.
He was released from the Ardabil Intelligence and Public Security Police detention center.
Branch 10 of the Ardabil City Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office issued a guilty verdict against Mr Yousef Kari, a Turkish (Azerbaijani) activist.
He was summoned but did not attend the 10th Investigation Branch of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office of the city.
