Khan Aziz Esmaeili, a board member of the Teachers' Trade Association of Eslamabad-e Gharb (Shahrabad), was released on bail moments ago.
This teachers' union activist had been arrested on 22 February following a raid on his home and had been held in detention at the Intelligence Office since Sunday.
Khan Aziz Esmaeili suffers from chronic illnesses and requires medical care. The Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers' Trade Associations referred to this issue in its statement yesterday.
While congratulating the family of Khan Aziz Esmaeili, the Council also called for the release of other imprisoned teachers and union activists, and for an end to the filing of cases against teachers and teacher union activists.
According to the Coordinating Council of Teachers Trade Associations this citizens underlying medical condition and need for continuous medical care have heightened concerns about his fate while in detention.
