Parasto Ahmadi, a singer, along with eight other individuals involved in the "Caravanserai Concert," has been sentenced to 74 lashes, a two-year travel ban, and a two-year prohibition from artistic activities. This verdict was issued by the Criminal Court of Qom Province, with the presiding judge, Mohammad Shiri, dismissing the defence presented by the nine individuals.
The charge against them was described as "offending public decency through the production and dissemination of indecent and immoral content on digital platforms." The video of the "Caravanserai Concert" was released on Parasto Ahmadi's YouTube channel in Azar 1403 in the Iranian calendar, corresponding to late 2024, and received widespread reactions on social media. In this "virtual concert," she performed on stage without the mandatory hijab.
Following the release of this video, the judiciary initiated legal proceedings against those involved in the program and sealed the historic "Deir-e Gachin Caravanserai," where the music event took place.
