A young worker, known for his critical activities and protests against current conditions, is being held in an uncertain situation at Noorabad Mamasani Prison. According to available information, Houman Shayani has been arrested multiple times since 2013 on charges including "propaganda against the regime," spending nearly three years in prison in total. In January 2026, prior to the start of nationwide protests, he was once again detained by security agencies and faced charges such as "propaganda activities against the regime." In a new judicial action, the prosecutor's office in Gotvand, Khuzestan Province, has opened a new case against him, accusing him of "enmity through propaganda activities in cyberspace and connections with government opponents." Houman Shayani began a hunger strike on 31 May 2026, protesting against his continued uncertain status, the heavy charges, and the lack of consolidation of his legal cases in Fars and Khuzestan provinces.
