Reports indicate that a 17-year-old girl named Zahra Mortazavi Chegini has been missing since 2 December 2022, and her family's efforts to locate her have been unsuccessful.
It has been reported that Zahra is the eldest child in the Mortazavi Chegini family, and her father is an employee. On the day she went missing, Zahra was at home with her mother and younger sister from morning until afternoon. She has not been heard from since around 5 PM. She did not take any clothes or money with her, and her family did not see her leave the house. Additionally, her image was not captured on cameras in the surrounding streets, and inquiries with relevant authorities have yielded no results.
The Mortazavi family lives in a two-storey building with a six-metre balcony, and nothing suspicious occurred on the day Zahra went missing or in the days leading up to it. Her family states that she was in good spirits on Friday, spending the morning helping her mother with household chores. After lunch, she went to the hallway with her mother and younger sister to study. Her mother fell asleep while resting. Around 5 PM, Zahra's mother awoke to find her younger sister in her room and Zahra's book left in the hallway, but Zahra was nowhere to be found.
The family has approached all relevant authorities, but their inquiries have been fruitless. They initially reported Zahra's disappearance to the local police station, and the case was referred to the criminal investigation department, where the family was also questioned. Zahra did not have money or her identification card with her and was last seen wearing black trousers and a hooded sweatshirt.
It has been reported that Zahra's family, after receiving a letter, checked with welfare organisations, prisons, hospitals, and the coroner's office. After two weeks of attempting to obtain permission to review CCTV footage, they were informed that the recordings from that day had been erased, and in cases where footage was available, Zahra was not seen. They even contacted the intelligence department, but were only told to wait as there was no news.
Zahra's family suspects that she may be detained by security agencies. The neighbourhood where Zahra's family resides is predominantly inhabited by members of the Revolutionary Guard and Basij. Like many young women during this period, especially following recent events, Zahra moved around the city without a hijab and had spoken about participating in gatherings. For this reason, her family suspects that she may have been detained by security agencies.

گزارش شده است که زهرا فرزند بزرگ خانواده مرتضوی چگنی است و پدر خانواده کارمند است. زهرا در روز مفقود شدن از صبح تا عصر در منزل کنار مادر و خواهر کوچکترش بوده است. از حوالی ۵ عصر کسی از او خبری ندارد. او نه لباسی و نه پولی به همراه داشته و خانواده نیز خروج او را از منزل ندیده اند. همچنین، تصویر او در دوربین های کوچه و خیابان های اطراف ثبت نشده است و پیگیری ها از نهادهای مربوطه نیز بی نتیجه بوده است.
خانواده مرتضوی در یک بنای دوطبقه با بالکنی شش متری زندگی می کنند و هیچ موضوع مشکوکی در روز مفقود شدن زهرا یا روزهای پیش از آن رخ نداده است. خانواده زهرا می گویند او روز جمعه خوب و شاد بوده و از صبح همراه مادرش به امور خانه پرداخته و بعد از نهار با خواهر کوچکتر و مادرش، به راهرو رفته تا درس بخواند. مادرش نیز در حال استراحت به خواب رفته است. حوالی ۵ عصر مادر زهرا بیدار می شود و خواهر کوچکتر در اتاق خود بوده و کتاب زهرا در راهرو باقی مانده، اما از زهرا هیچ اثری پیدا نشده است.
خانواده این دختر به همه نهادهای مرتبط مراجعه کرده اند، اما پیگیری هایشان به نتیجه ای نرسیده است. ابتدا به کلانتری محل اطلاع داده و مفقودی زهرا را ثبت کرده اند و پرونده به بخش جنایی ارجاع شده و از خانواده زهرا نیز بازجویی شده است. زهرا حتی پول و شناسنامه خود را به همراه نداشته و با یک شلوار مشکی و سوییشرت کلاه دار مفقود شده است.
گزارش شده است که خانواده زهرا با نامه ای که دریافت کرده اند، بهزیستی، زندان ها، بیمارستان ها و پزشکی قانونی را بررسی کرده اند. پس از دو هفته تلاش برای دریافت مجوز بررسی دوربین های مداربسته، به آن ها گفته شد که فیلم های آن روز پاک شده و در مواردی که ویدیو موجود بود، زهرا دیده نشده است. حتی با اداره اطلاعات تماس گرفته شده، اما فقط به آن ها گفته شده که منتظر باشند و خبری نیست.
