On 8 January 2020, the aircraft, operating a scheduled passenger service from Tehran to Kyiv, was shot down shortly after takeoff by air defense missiles fired by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, killing all 176 people on board.
Danial Ghandchi was a passenger aboard Ukraine International Airlines Flight PS752, traveling with his mother and sister. In the early hours of 8 January 2020, he, along with his father, mother, and sister, was among the passengers on the flight, which was shot down over Tehran by missiles fired by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). He was killed along with all the other passengers and crew on board.
