According to received information, a citizen from Gorgan was killed during protests in Shahroud on 8 January 2026. It was reported that on the morning of that day, he had spoken with a relative and mentioned that due to the absence of protests in Gorgan in recent days, he would travel to Shahroud with a relative. It was stated that before the call for protests, there had been no demonstrations in Gorgan, prompting the decision to go to Shahroud. On the night of 8 January, Gorgan also joined the protests, with all family members of this citizen participating. Reports indicate that before the internet was cut off, this citizen and his family were in contact between Shahroud and Gorgan, with large crowds present in both cities. After the internet shutdown, authorities reportedly began widespread shooting. The family returned home but were unaware of his situation due to the internet outage. It was reported that older individuals returned home, while younger people remained on the streets. It was stated that this citizen and another family member were killed on 8 January, and his body was handed over on 12 January. Due to the internet disruption, there is no information available about the conditions of the handover and burial of the bodies.
