Mohammad Mahdi Seifollahpour, a resident of western Tehran, was fatally shot by Islamic Republic forces on 8 January 2026 on Kashani Street in Tehran.
Following his death, his family was unaware of the whereabouts of his body for several days. After approximately three days of searching, the family identified Mohammad Mahdi Seifollahpour's body at the Kahrizak Forensic Medicine Centre.
Reports indicate that the handover of the body was delayed and conducted under security pressures. The family was simultaneously informed that they must accept Mohammad Mahdi's death as "martyrdom." Under significant pressure, the family was compelled to accept this narrative.
After the body was handed over, security agencies repeatedly visited the family, bringing Quran plaques and symbols to portray Mohammad Mahdi as affiliated with government forces. However, reports emphasize that the deceased young man had no membership or connection with the Basij or military institutions.
The burial ceremony for Mohammad Mahdi was conducted with permission for only a limited gathering, during which a large number of plainclothes officers were present.
Mohammad Mahdi Seifollahpour was unmarried and the only son of his family. His father is a worker, and his mother is a homemaker. He worked at an auto body shop in western Tehran.
