Teh Rasoulian

Reports indicate that Taha Rasoulian, a resident of Piranshahr in West Azerbaijan Province, has been sentenced to seven years and three months of imprisonment. This sentence was issued by the head of the First Branch of the Revolutionary Court in Mahabad. In another part of the same case, he was also sentenced to a monetary fine and lashes.

According to the issued verdict, Taha Rasoulian was sentenced to three years and seven months of imprisonment for assembly and collusion with the intent to act against national security, three years of imprisonment for membership in one of the Kurdish opposition parties, and eight months of imprisonment for propaganda activities against the regime.

If this sentence is upheld in the Court of Appeal of West Azerbaijan Province and Article 134 of the Islamic Penal Code is applied, Taha Rasoulian will be required to serve the most severe punishment, which is three years and seven months of imprisonment for assembly and collusion with the intent to act against national security.

Additionally, on 14 May 2023, Taha Rasoulian was sentenced by the head of Branch 102 of the Criminal Court 2 in Piranshahr to a fine of 50 million rials and 40 lashes for disturbing public order and peace.

This individual was arrested by security forces in Piranshahr on 18 January 2023 and, after undergoing interrogation and being informed of the charges, was released on bail from Naqadeh prison on 21 February 2023.
