Mohammad Jafar Poyandeh, a writer from Yazd, was born. After receiving a literary diploma, in 1972, with the highest ranking in the entrance exam, he entered the Faculty of Law and Political Science of Tehran University and went to France to continue his studies. He studied social sciences at the "Saint-Denis" University in Paris and received his master's degree in this field in 1977. He returned to his homeland in September 1978.
Poyandeh left home to attend a publishers' meeting and never returned home. On the same day, he was kidnapped by agents of the Ministry of Intelligence and Security on Iranshahr Street, beaten, strangled, and dumped in the village of Badamak Shahriar (near Karaj). Poyandeh's body was found by locals in Badamak Shahriar on December 19.
His case and four similar cases were called "serial murders."
