Gholamhossein Ahrabi

Gholamhossein Ahrabi was born in 1945 in Tehran. He completed his studies in physics at the University of Tehran. He participated in the student movements of the 1960s and played a significant role during the university strikes and the memorial ceremony for the legendary wrestler Takhti. After the arrest of several activists from this period, he decided to leave Iran. In 1973, he moved to Germany and settled in Berlin. From his first day there, he joined the Berlin unit of the Confederation. Like many politically active young people of that era, his heart beat for Marxism and the noble ideals of the working class, and he became a member of the Revolutionary Organization as a leading activist. With the escalation of the people's struggles within the country, Ahrabi returned to Iran in 1977 and continued his fight alongside the Iranian people. However, after a short time, he was arrested by the Shah's regime's intelligence organization and sent to prison. After the formation of the Party of the Toilers in 1979, Ahrabi joined and became one of its prominent members. Hossein never flaunted his academic knowledge and considered himself a soldier of the working class. Perhaps only a handful of his close friends knew that he was a physics graduate from the University of Tehran. Gholamhossein Ahrabi was arrested in 1983. His resistance provoked the anger of his torturers, leading them to hang him by his feet for days and pull out his fingernails and toenails. Hossein was eventually hanged at dawn on June 12, 1984, at the University of Educational Sciences in Mashhad, on Kouhsangi Street, which had been turned into a prison.
