بر اساس گزارش های دریافتی سید مسعود ناصری فردی خیر و فعال اجتماعی بود که با همکاری دیگر نیکوکاران در تهیه و توزیع سبدهای کمک معیشتی برای خانواده های کم بضاعت نقش فعالی داشت. او متولد ۱۱ اردیبهشت ۱۳۵۷ ۴۷ ساله و دارای شغل آزاد بود و یک بوتیک پوشاک را اداره می کرد.
یکی از دوستان او گزارش داده که نیروهای امنیتی تا مدتی از تحویل پیکر وی به خانواده اش جلوگیری کرده و از آنان خواسته بودند او را به عنوان عضو بسیج معرفی کنند و برایش کارت بسیج صادر شود.
دوستان و بستگان سید مسعود ناصری تاکید کرده اند که او به هیچ عنوان عضو بسیج نبوده است.
تلاش برای جعل هویت و مصادره کشته شده ها به نفع رژیم الگویی است که به صورت سیستماتیک در خصوص کشته شده ها با گروگان گرفتن پیکر آن ها اعمال شده است و یکی از مصادیق نقض حقوق شهروندان است.
