علی مختاری پژوهشگر و دانشجوی دکتری حقوق عمومی دانشگاه بهشتی، در تاریخ ۳۱ اردیبهشت ماه سال ۱۴۰۵، به دلیل فعالیت در شبکه اجتماعی اینستاگرام و انتشار مطالبی در خصوص اعتراضات سراسری، توسط ماموران پلیس امنیت بازداشت شد. وی توسط دادگاه بدوی بابت اتهامات «تبلیغ علیه نظام» و «توهین به رهبری» به ۱۸ ماه حبس محکوم شد اما محکومیت او در دادگاه تجدیدنظر به شش ماه حبس کاهش یافت که چهار ماه از این میزان به حالت تعلیق درآمده است.
