On 27 August 2023, a judge at the Piranshahr Revolutionary Court sentenced Jotyar Ashrafzadeh to imprisonment. According to the issued verdict, Jotyar Ashrafzadeh was sentenced to three years of imprisonment on charges of propaganda against the regime and assembly and collusion. His spouse, Mahvash Tavassoli, was sentenced to two years of imprisonment with an electronic bracelet on charges of propaganda against the regime.
It has been reported that Jotyar Ashrafzadeh and Mahvash Tavassoli were arrested by security forces in Piranshahr on 20 October 2022. After being transferred to a detention centre of a security agency and undergoing interrogation and being informed of the charges, they were released on bail some time later.
در 5 شهریور 1402، قاضی شعبه دادگاه انقلاب پیرانشهر جوتیار اشرف زاده را به حبس تعزیری محکوم کرد. براساس دادنامه صادره، جوتیار اشرف زاده به اتهام تبلیغ علیه نظام و اجتماع و تبانی به تحمل 3 سال حبس تعزیری و همسر وی، مهوش توسلی، به اتهام تبلیغ علیه نظام به تحمل 2 سال حبس با پابند الکترونیکی محکوم شدند.
گفته شده است که جوتیار اشرف زاده و مهوش توسلی در 28 مهر 1401 توسط نیروهای امنیتی در شهرستان پیرانشهر بازداشت و پس از انتقال به بازداشتگاه یکی از نهادهای امنیتی و طی مراحل بازجویی و تفهیم اتهام، مدتی بعد هر یک با تودیع قرار وثیقه آزاد شدند.
