امیرمهدی رضایی و عرفان رضایی برادران دوقلو، در روز ۱۱ آبان 1401 در منزل شخصی خود و به اتهام دخالت در قتل یک بسیجی به نام آرمان علیوردی در شهرک اکباتان تهران بازداشت شدند.
به گفته ی یکی از نزدیکان این دو برادر از روز بازداشت تاکنون، آنان در آگاهی شاپور هستند و با وجود وعده آزادی با وثیقه، هنوز قرار وثیقه آنان صادر نشده است و از حق دسترسی به وکیل محرومند.
منابع مطلع تایید میکنند که مهدی و عرفان رضایی نیز جزو متهمان پرونده مرگ مامور بسیجی هستند. در فیلم اعتراف اجباری دیگری که از یکی از متهمان این پرونده پخش شده است، فردی که چهرهاش شطرنجی شده به نام مهدی و عرفان اشاره میکند.
همچنین ویديویی موجود است که در آن مهدی در تلاش برای دفاع از آرمان علی وردی و دور کردن کسانی است که در حال زدن او هستند.
خبرگزاری های وابسته به حکومت، یکشنبه ۲۷ آذر 1401 خبر از «بررسی صحنه جرم» با حضور متهمان در شهرک اکباتان داد و عکس هایی ناواضح از متهمان این پرونده منتشر کرد.

Twin brothers Amir Mahdi Rezaei and Erfan Rezaei were arrested at their private residence on 2 November 2022, accused of involvement in the death of a Basij member named Arman Ali Vardi in the Ekbatan neighbourhood of Tehran. According to a source close to the brothers, they have been held at Shapour Detention Centre since their arrest. Despite promises of release on bail, no bail has been set, and they have been denied access to legal representation.
Informed sources confirm that Mahdi and Erfan Rezaei are among the suspects in the case concerning the death of the Basij member. In another forced confession video released from one of the suspects in this case, an individual with a blurred face mentions Mahdi and Erfan. Additionally, a video exists showing Mahdi attempting to defend Arman Ali Vardi and trying to distance those attacking him.
On 18 December 2022, government-affiliated news agencies reported that a "crime scene investigation" took place in the Ekbatan neighbourhood with the presence of the suspects, and unclear photographs of the suspects in this case were published.
