مجتبی موذنی ۲۰ ساله، سرباز وظیفه اهل تربت جام و متولد ۱۳۸۴، در شب ۱۹ دی ماه در تربت جام ناپدید شد. در ۲۲ دی ماه، پیکر او به خانواده اش تحویل داده شد. گزارش ها حاکی از آن است که او در خیابان آزادگان تربت جام و در جریان حوادثی پس از تیراندازی نیروهای امنیتی و در هنگام فرار، به صورت تنها هدف قرار گرفت و با ضربات قمه و چاقو به قتل رسید. مجتبی سرباز وظیفه بود و برای پایان خدمت به زادگاهش بازگشته بود. پیکر او دو روز پس از اعلام خبر جان باختنش و با گرفتن تعهد از خانواده مبنی بر عدم برگزاری مراسم و خودداری از اطلاع رسانی تحویل داده شد. گفته شده است که خانواده او همچنان تحت فشار و نظارت شدید قرار دارند.
