On Wednesday, September 23, 2026, intelligence agency forces in the city of Baneh raided the family home of Azad Rahmati, a civil activist in the city, and arrested him without presenting any judicial warrant.
Azad Rahmati had previously experienced detention and security pressures. On 12 October 2019, he was arrested by security forces during a protest gathering in Baneh, which condemned Turkey's military attack on Rojava.
