On Saturday, 9 Farvardin 1405 (March 28, 2026), prison authorities informed his family of his death. He was an Arab, originally from Ahvaz and a political prisoner and among those detained during the recent protests.
His death was reported to his family just three days after his sudden transfer from the general ward of Shiraz Central Prison (Adelabad Prison) to an undisclosed location.
Abbas Yavari, an Arab citizen from Ahvaz residing in Shiraz, died while in custody during the protests in December 2025. Reports indicate that he suffered fatal injuries due to torture by security agencies.
Judicial and security officials have reportedly pressured his family, stating that the cause of death was suicide.
