Esmail (Samko) Moloodi, a protester born of the Ismaili tribes who was shot and killed during the protests in Mahabad on Wednesday night, November 4, 1401, was targeted by government officials with a "sniper rifle with a camera" and died in the hospital.
Faramarz Sajim, Moloodi's cousin, told Voice of America's Persian section on Thursday, November 5, that he "was present at the Wednesday night protest" and "around 9 to 9:30" was targeted by a "sniper bullet (a weapon with a camera)," was "severely wounded and died as soon as he was taken to Mahabad Hospital."
According to Mouloudi's cousin, "about two hours later, the forces of the Islamic Republic summoned his father and uncles and threatened and intimidated them, saying you have no right to hold a ceremony for him and you must bury the body that night." But the father of the young man who was killed said, "People know me and I would not do such a thing" and "he will not surrender to the security forces."
Mr. Sajim says authorities told Ismail (Samko) Mouloudi's father that "your son was targeted by the bullets of the Komala and Democrat forces," and Mr. Mouloudi replied, "What do you think of the people? The bullet was fired from your base and what are the Komala and Democrat forces doing in your base? If they are there, why are they shooting at people and no force from you is being killed? We and the people do not believe these words."
The funeral of Ismail Mouloudi, a protester who was killed on Wednesday night in Mahabad, was held at 9 a.m. on Thursday, and the participants, who Mr. Sajim said numbered "10,000," chanted against the Islamic Republic and "government forces did not dare to go to the cemetery" because "people were angry." Mr. Sajim says, "My uncles took themselves to the hospital and forcibly took the blood-soaked body, washed it, and kept it in the mosque. Since the former regime's forces have a history of stealing people's bodies, hundreds of people guarded the mosque and its surroundings until morning so they could not steal the body."
According to Ismail (Samko) Mouloudi's cousin, "the bullet hit his waist" and "exited from the other side" and "at least three other people were shot and severely wounded within a few meters of him." Mr. Sajim says, "10 minutes before this interview, I realized that one of them (also) had died."
Mouloudi's cousin describes him as a "lively, vibrant and cheerful" young man and a "positive and energetic person" who "had a freelance job; he was married and had a seven or eight-year-old daughter."
He insists that Samko Mouloudi "had no political affiliation with any of the parties." He explains, "The belief in fighting against the Islamic Republic is not only for Samko, but is always seen among Iranian youth, especially in Kurdistan. Iranian Kurdistan has always been a security environment, they have taken people, tortured them, and executed them. Therefore, the acquaintance of young people and the political maturity of young people in Kurdistan is more than other places" and "his participation in the protests was for this reason."
