Abolghasem Babaei, 44, a father of three children aged 4, 11 and 15, was killed by security forces while attending protests in Vahidieh, Shahriar.
He worked as a taxi driver on the Shahriar–Azadi route and was known as a hardworking local resident who regularly took part in protest calls. On the night of his death, he was alone in the Joughin Street area of Vahidieh when he was surrounded by members of the Basij and plainclothes forces.
According to reports, Babaei was first severely beaten with batons and then shot with pellet rounds in the chest and abdomen. He died from the severity of his injuries.
Originally from Kangavar, Babaei had lived in Vahidieh, Shahriar, for many years. He was also a maternal cousin of the mother of Erfan Khazaei, who was killed during the 2022 uprising.
ابوالقاسم بابایی، ۴۴ ساله، پدر دو دختر و یک پسر ۴، ۱۱ و ۱۵ ساله، شامگاهی که در جریان اعتراضات در شهر وحیدیه شهریار حضور داشت، به دست نیروهای امنیتی کشته شد.
او راننده تاکسی در مسیر شهریار–آزادی بود و از مردان زحمتکش و شناخته شده ای به شمار می رفت که در تمامی فراخوان های اعتراضی، در صف نخست حضور داشت. در شبی که جان باخت، به تنهایی در محدوده وحیدیه، خیابان جوقین گرفتار نیروهای بسیجی و لباس شخصی ها شد.
گزارش ها حاکی است که ابوالقاسم بابایی ابتدا با ضربات شدید باتوم مورد ضرب وشتم قرار گرفت و سپس با شلیک گلوله های ساچمه ای به ناحیه قفسه سینه و شکم هدف قرار داده شد و بر اثر شدت جراحات جان خود را از دست داد.
ابوالقاسم بابایی اهل کنگاور بود و سال ها در وحیدیه شهریار زندگی می کرد.
او پسرعمهٔ مادر عرفان خزایی از جان باختگان خیزش انقلابی ۱۴۰۱ بود.
