In Mashhad, Arian Nabati was killed by direct gunfire from government forces during a memorial ceremony for the victims of protests. Government authorities have stated that his death was due to an "accident." According to reports, on 17 February 2026, Arian Nabati, a resident of Mashhad, was shot and killed while attempting to leave the gathering on a motorcycle with friends, following an attack by government forces on the memorial site.
After two days without news about Arian's situation, the Nabati family was contacted and asked to identify a body at a hospital in Mashhad. Upon their visit, they were informed that Arian had died in an accident and were initially not permitted to see the body. However, after the family's insistence, they observed the body and noted evidence of three gunshot wounds. The bullets had struck Arian in the heart, head, and side.
Government authorities have conditioned the release of the body on the family's agreement not to publicise the incident and to declare the cause of death as an "accident." Arian Nabati's body was buried under strict security measures, without a public funeral ceremony, and with only limited family members present. The family has also been denied permission to hold a public mourning ceremony.

پس از دو روز بی خبری از وضعیت آرین، با خانواده نباتی تماس گرفته شد و از آنان خواسته شد جهت شناسایی پیکر به یکی از بیمارستان های مشهد مراجعه کنند. زمانی که خانواده برای احراز هویت مراجعه کردند، به آنها اعلام شد که آرین بر اثر تصادف جان خود را از دست داده و اجازه مشاهده پیکر را نخواهند داشت. با اصرار خانواده، پیکر مشاهده شد و آثار شلیک سه گلوله بر بدن او مشهود بود. گلوله ها به قلب، سر و پهلوی آرین اصابت کرده بودند.
نهادهای حکومتی تحویل پیکر را مشروط به عدم اطلاع رسانی و اعلام "تصادف" به عنوان علت فوت کرده اند. پیکر آرین نباتی تحت تدابیر شدید امنیتی و بدون برگزاری مراسم عمومی خاکسپاری و با حضور محدود اعضای خانواده به خاک سپرده شده است. همچنین خانواده اجازه برگزاری مراسم سوگواری با حضور عموم مردم را نیافته اند.
