Reza Amiri, ۱۷ساله, was killed by direct gunfire from security forces during protests in Shushtar, Khuzestan Province, on 8 January 2026. Reports indicate that officers shot him in the head from close range.
It has been stated that Reza was a student interested in the freedom of Iran and frequently participated in protests. He believed in taking to the streets even at the risk of his life.
Sources close to Reza Amiri's family reported that after the shooting, locals identified him and took him to the hospital, but it was too late, and his family was informed from there.
Shushtar is a small, ancient city in Khuzestan, where residents often have familial ties or know each other.
Reza Amiri's body was transferred to the morgue and was not handed over to the family until five days later. Eventually, at 5 a.m. on 13 January 2026, his body was returned to the family and buried in Behesht Reza, Shushtar, with the presence of six family members and under heavy security forces' surveillance.

شوشتر شهری کوچک و باستانی در خوزستان است که اهالی آن اغلب با هم نسبت فامیلی دارند یا یکدیگر را می شناسند.
پیکر رضا امیری به سردخانه منتقل شد و تا پنج روز بعد به خانواده تحویل داده نشد. در نهایت، در ساعت 5 صبح روز 23 دی، او را به خانواده تحویل دادند و با حضور شش نفر از اعضای خانواده و در محاصره گسترده نیروهای امنیتی در بهشت رضا شوشتر به خاک سپرده شد.
