Rahmati was arrested at 1:30 am on Tuesday, 17 March 2026, following a raid by government forces on his private residence in Mashhad. Initially, he was held for three months at the detention centre of the Mashhad Intelligence Department, where he underwent interrogation and security pressures. He was then transferred to a section of Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad.
His spouse was also detained by security agencies for 45 days in connection with this case.
This civil activist had previously been detained for three years between 1986 and 1989 due to political activities.
رحمتی ساعت ۱:۳۰ بامداد روز سه شنبه ۲۶ اسفندماه ۱۴۰۴، در پی یورش نیروهای حکومتی به منزل شخصی اش در مشهد بازداشت شد. وی ابتدا به مدت سه ماه در بازداشتگاه اداره اطلاعات مشهد تحت بازجویی و فشارهای امنیتی قرار داشت و سپس به فرعی بند چهار زندان وکیل آباد مشهد منتقل گردید.
همسر وی نیز در جریان این پرونده سازی به مدت ۴۵ روز توسط نهادهای امنیتی بازداشت شده بود.
این فعال مدنی پیش تر نیز در فاصله سال های ۱۳۶۵ تا ۱۳۶۸ به دلیل فعالیت های سیاسی به مدت ۳ سال بازداشت شده بود.
