این تجمعات به دعوت شورای هماهنگی تشکل های صنفی فرهنگیان در اعتراض به سیاست های اقتصادی دولت، تورم، گرانی، و بازداشت معلمان زندانی شکل گرفت. معلمان خواستار آزادی همکاران زندانی خود و تغییر سیاست های دولت بودند که به گفته آن ها موجب افزایش فقر و فشار اقتصادی بر قشر معلمان و کارگران شده است.
