Ahad Shokouhian

An individual has been sentenced to three death penalties by Branch 26 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Iman Afshari. The charges include "acting against national security," "assembly and collusion to act against national security," "destruction of public property with the intent to oppose the regime," and "participation in the murder of two government forces."

The three death sentences were issued for Ahad Shokouhian, who was the third defendant in the case. According to an official forensic report, he suffers from severe asthma, which reportedly prevents him from engaging in heavy physical activities or the actions alleged by security agencies.

During the investigation and initial detention, he was denied access to a chosen lawyer, which has raised concerns about the deprivation of his right to a fair defence. His court-appointed lawyer was not present in Tehran and only attended one court session. Furthermore, during the appeal stage, all submissions and documents provided by his new chosen lawyer were completely disregarded.

He was arrested by government forces in Pakdasht, Tehran, on 15 January 2026. Since late June 2026, he has been transferred to Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj, where he is reportedly held under concerning conditions.

He is a worker at the Imam Reza Flower Market in Tehran and the sole breadwinner for his family. He has been responsible for the care and financial support of his 80-year-old mother and disabled brother.
