Kamran Sakhmangar

According to reports, on 18 May 2025, Kamran Sakhtemangar, a labour and civil activist in Sanandaj, was charged by the investigator of Branch 2 of the Sanandaj Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office. During this session, he presented his initial defence regarding charges of membership in the Komala Party, assembly and collusion, and insulting the leadership on social media. After being acquitted of these charges, his indictment for propaganda activities against the regime was referred to the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court.

On 6 February 2025, Kamran Sakhtemangar was arrested in Sanandaj by security forces and transferred to the central detention centre. After undergoing interrogation and being charged, he was transferred to prison and released on bail on 11 March 2025.

On 27 November 2023, Kamran Sakhtemangar was detained to serve a three-month prison sentence and transferred to the central prison in Sanandaj. He was released on 3 December 2023 after paying a fine. Additionally, on 6 January 2025, he was tried in the Sanandaj Criminal Court on charges of slander and defamation.

On 26 June 2023, he was summoned to the Sanandaj Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office for indictment and arraignment. On 26 August 2023, he appeared in the Sanandaj Revolutionary Court to present his defence, and on 18 September 2023, he was sentenced to three months of imprisonment and a fine.

On 17 December 2020, he was summoned to serve a five-year prison sentence, but the execution of the sentence was suspended due to the COVID-19 outbreak. On 29 September 2022, he was detained to serve his sentence and transferred to the central prison in Sanandaj, and he was released on 25 February 2023.

On 22 November 2020, his request for a retrial was rejected by the Supreme Court. On 19 November 2019, he was sentenced to five years in prison for membership in the Komala Party and one year for propaganda against the regime. This sentence was upheld by the Kurdistan Provincial Court of Appeal on 15 February 2020.

Kamran Sakhtemangar was arrested on 5 September 2019 in Saqqez and, after being transferred to a detention centre and undergoing interrogation, was moved to Sanandaj prison on 3 October of the same year. He was released on bail on 25 November 2019.
