According to reports, in recent days, Hassan Suwari, a resident of Alavi neighborhood in Hay al-Thawra, a political prisoner held in Ward 5 of Sheiban Central Prison in Ahvaz, Khuzestan Province, was sent on medical leave after enduring 6 years of imprisonment. The news was reported on September 5, 2025.

A human rights activist, while sending this news and explaining it, stated: "During these 6 years of imprisonment in Sheiban Prison in Ahvaz, Mr. Hassan Suwari suffered from high blood sugar diabetes and was deprived of the right to treatment. Finally, with the approval of the Ahvaz prosecutor, he has been sent on leave to receive medical treatment."

It is worth noting that Hassan Suwari was arrested on December 1, 2018, in connection with an armed attack on the Iranian military parade in the city of Ahvaz by security forces. After being transferred to the detention center of the Khuzestan Provincial Intelligence Office, he was deprived of the basic rights of an accused to access a lawyer and was subjected to various tortures and interrogations.

This citizen from Khuzestan Province, after the completion of interrogations, was charged by the investigator of the general and revolutionary prosecutor's office in Ahvaz with "Moharebeh" (waging war against God) and "membership in opposition groups intending to disrupt national security," and his case was referred to the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court.

During the trial phase, Hassan Suwari was tried by Judge Mehdi Shahin, the head of Branch 2 of the Ahvaz Revolutionary Court, and was sentenced to 10 years of imprisonment for the charge of "Moharebeh" and 5 years for "membership in opposition groups intending to disrupt national security."

Following the issuance of the verdict and Hassan Suwari's appeal, his case was referred to the Khuzestan Provincial Court of Appeals, and he was ultimately sentenced to a total of 11 years and 6 months of imprisonment.
