On Tuesday, June 17, 2025, Mohsen Kheirkhah, a political prisoner held in Behbahan prison, was released after his custodial sentence was converted to open imprisonment. His release followed the conversion of his custodial sentence to open imprisonment, and he will serve the remainder of his custodial sentence in this manner.
It should be noted that on July 5, 2023, Mohsen Kheirkhah was tried in the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Mahshahr on charges of "insulting the leadership in cyberspace" and "propaganda against the regime." In early August 2023, he was sentenced to a total of three years of custodial imprisonment. Following an appeal and the referral of his case to the 24th branch of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office of Khuzestan Province, he was sentenced to one year of custodial imprisonment for "propaganda against the regime" and two years for "insulting the leadership in cyberspace." He was arrested on April 25, 2025, to serve his custodial sentence and was transferred to the prison of that county.
Additionally, an interrogation and indictment session for Mohsen Kheirkhah was held on April 18, 2023, after he was summoned to the fourth branch of the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor's Office of Mahshahr. His indictment was prepared by the investigator, Mohammad Shojaei, on two charges: "propaganda against the regime" and "insulting the leadership in cyberspace," and was referred to the Revolutionary Court of Mahshahr.
Previously, on September 28, 2022, Mohsen Kheirkhah was arrested by security forces in Mahshahr. After being transferred to the Security Police detention center and then to the Intelligence Office detention center in Mahshahr, he underwent interrogation and was charged. He was then transferred to Behbahan prison and released on bail after some time. However, in December 2022, he was tried by the first branch of the Revolutionary Court of Mahshahr on charges of "propaganda against the regime" and sentenced to eight months of custodial imprisonment. به گزارش حقوق بشر در ایران، روز سه شنبه ۲۷ خرداد ماه ۱۴۰۴، محسن خیرخواه، زندانی سیاسی محبوس در زندان شهرستان بهبهان، پس از تبدیل حبس تعزیری خود به رای باز، آزاد شد.
براساس این گزارش، آزادی محسن خیرخواه، پس از تبدیل حبس تعزیری اش به رای باز، آزاد شد و باقی مانده دوران حبس تعزیری خود را بصورت رای باز سپری می کند.
لازم به اشار است، محسن خیرخواه، در تاریخ ۱۴ تیر ماه ۱۴۰۲، در شعبه اول دادگاه انقلاب شهرستان ماهشهر، از بابت اتهامات «توهین به رهبری در فضای مجازی» و «فعالیت تبلیغی علیه نظام»، محاکمه و اوایل مرداد ماه ۱۴۰۲، در مجموع به تحمل ۳ سال حبس تعزیری محکوم شد و در پی اعتراض و ارجاع پرونده محسن خیرخواه به شعبه ۲۴ اجرای احکام دادسرای عمومی و انقلاب استان خوزستان، بدون تشکیل جلسه دادرسی استیذان ، توسط مستشار حسن مسعودی نسب و قاضی سیدنبی اله موسوی، از بابت اتهام «فعالیت تبلیغی علیه نظام» به ۱ سال حبس تعزیری و به اتهام «توهین به رهبری در فضای مجازی» هم به تحمل ۲ سال حبس تعزیری محکوم و در تاریخ ۶ اردیبهشت ماه ۱۴۰۴، برای سپری کردن دوران حبس تعزیری خود، دستگیر و به زندان آن شهرستان، منتقل شده بود.
همچنین، جلسه بازپرسی و تفهیم اتهام محسن خیرخواه هم در تاریخ ۲۹ فروردین ماه ۱۴۰۲، پس از احضار وی به شعبه ۴ دادسرای عمومی و انقلاب ماهشهر برگزار و کیفرخواست وی توسط بازپرس محمد شجاعی، با ۲ اتهام «فعالیت تبلیغ علیه نظام» و «توهین به رهبری در قضای مجازی» تنظیم و به دادگاه انقلاب ماهشهر ارجاع شده بود.
محسن خیرخواه، پیشتر هم در تاریخ ۶ مهر ماه ۱۴۰۱، توسط ماموران امنیتی در شهرستان ماهشهر، دستگیر و پس از انتقال به بازداشتگاه پلیس امنیت و سپس بازداشتگاه اداره اطلاعات شهرستان ماهشهر و طی مراحل بازجویی ها و تفهیم اتهام سپس به زندان شهرستان بهبهان، منتقل و پس از مدتی با تودیع وثیقه آزاد شد اما در دی ماه ۱۴۰۱، توسط شعبه اول دادگاه انقلاب ماهشهر، از بابت اتهام «فعالیت تبلیغی علیه نظام» محاکمه و به تحمل ۸ ماه حبس تعزیری محکوم شده بود اما در پی اعمال بخشنامه عفو قوه قضائیه آن پرونده مختومه شده بود.
