Leila Bakhshandehfar was arrested at her home in Mashhad by agents of the Intelligence Department on 3 January 2026. According to an informed source, the former university professor was arrested for attending the seventh-day memorial ceremony for Khosrow Alikordi.
She was released from Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad on 24 February 2026. She had previously been sentenced by a judicial authority to four years and six months of discretionary imprisonment (ta'zir). The prison sentence was initially converted into a fine of 140 million tomans in lieu of imprisonment. Ultimately, after credit was given for the time she had already spent in detention and in consideration of her acceptance of the verdict, the fine was reduced to 70 million tomans.
Leila Bakhshandehfar is a former mathematics professor at Payame Noor University with 12 years of teaching experience. During the nationwide protests of 2022, she was first barred from teaching and was subsequently dismissed from her academic position.
لیلا بخشنده فر در تاریخ ۱۳ دی ماه ۱۴۰۴، توسط نیروهای اداره اطلاعات مشهد در منزل شخصی اش بازداشت شد. به گفته یک منبع مطلع، این استاد دانشگاه به دلیل شرکت در مراسم هفتم خسرو علیکردی بازداشت شد.
وی در ۵ اسفند ۱۴۰۴ از زندان وکیل آباد مشهد آزاد شد. وی پیشتر از سوی مرجع قضایی به چهار سال و شش ماه حبس تعزیری محکوم شده بود؛ این رای صادره ابتدا به ۱۴۰ میلیون تومان جزای نقدی بدل از حبس تبدیل شد. نهایتاً با احتساب ایام بازداشت و تسلیم به رأی، به پرداخت ۷۰ میلیون تومان کاهش پیدا کرد.
لیلا بخشنده فر استاد پیشین ریاضی دانشگاه پیام نور با سابقه ۱۲ سال تدریس که در جریان اعتراضات سراسری ۱۴۰۱ از تدریس محروم و سپس اخراج شد میباشد.
