Moein Mohammadi Dahej

Moein Mohammadi-Dehj, a Baha'i citizen residing in Yazd, has been sentenced by the First Branch of the Revolutionary Court in the city on various charges. He received a sentence of 7 months and 16 days of imprisonment for the charge of "propaganda against the regime." Additionally, he was sentenced to 3 years, 6 months, and 1 day of imprisonment and 10 years of deprivation of social rights for "engaging in deviant propaganda contrary to the sacred Islamic law through promoting the Baha'i faith." Furthermore, he was sentenced to 12 years, 6 months, and 1 day of imprisonment and permanent dismissal from government and public services for "media and propaganda activities against national security." If the sentences are upheld, the most severe punishment, which is 12 years, 6 months, and 1 day of imprisonment, will be enforceable.

Among the charges against Mohammadi is "encouraging and inviting individuals to violent acts by teaching methods through computer and telecommunications systems" during "previous periods of unrest." However, it is noted that he was in prison during the protests of 2019 and 2022, serving previous sentences.

The issued sentences for the charges of "propaganda activities against the regime" and "deviant propaganda contrary to the sacred Islamic law" can be appealed in the Supreme Court within 20 days, and the charge of "media and propaganda activities against national security" can be appealed within 10 days after notification.

Mohammadi was previously arrested by security forces at his residence on 5 January 2026, and several personal belongings of him and his family were confiscated. He was temporarily released from prison on 16 March 2026 after posting bail of one billion tomans. However, shortly thereafter, an additional four billion tomans was requested from his family, bringing the total bail amount to five billion tomans.

Mohammadi has a history of convictions related to his religious beliefs.
