The Miankaleh petrochemical project is located in the Hosseinabad area of Behshahr County, approximately 20 kilometres from the Miankaleh wetland. Environmental activists believe that the establishment of this petrochemical plant poses a serious threat to the environment and the Miankaleh wildlife refuge due to the production of industrial wastewater.
