Mehdi Mahmoudian, born in 1978, is a political prisoner and reformist activist, a member of the Information Committee of the Participation Front and the Association for the Defense of Prisoners' Rights of this reformist party. He is held in Evin Prison.
Mehdi Mahmoudian was active in the Participation Party and the Union Party for 15 years, eventually leaving these two parties on April 30, 2020. He is a human rights activist in Iran and a member of the Committee for the Defense of Prisoners' Rights.
On August 14, 2021, he, along with others who intended to file a complaint regarding negligence in preventing COVID-19 in Iran, was arrested. These pursuits later became known as the Health Advocates or Health Defenders case. According to his lawyer, the indictment against him and his companions includes charges of "forming and managing an anti-regime group, propaganda activities against the regime, and disturbing public order." Following this arrest, Mahmoudian's previous sentence was enforced, and he was sentenced to serve 5 years in prison.
On January 3, 2024, Mehdi Mahmoudian, a political prisoner held in Evin Prison, was released after serving 2 years and 6 months of his sentence.
مهدی محمودیان زاده ۱۳۵۷ ، زندانی سیاسی و فعال اصلاح طلب، عضو کمیته اطلاع رسانی جبهه مشارکت و انجمن دفاع از حقوق زندانیان این حزب اصلاح طلب می باشد. او در زندان اوین به سر می برد.
مهدی محمودیان به مدت ۱۵ سال در حزب مشارکت و حزب اتحاد فعال بود که سرانجام در ۱۱ اردیبهشت ۱۳۹۹ از این دو حزب جا شد. او از فعالان حقوق بشر در ایران و عضو کمیته انجمن دفاع از حقوق زندانی ها است.
در ۲۳ مرداد ۱۴۰۰ او به همراه جمعی دیگر که قصد به جریان انداختن شکوائیه ای درباره قصور در جلوگیری از کرونا در ایران داشتند، بازداشت شدند. این پیگیری ها بعدتر به پرونده دادخواهان سلامت یا مدافعان سلامت مشهور شد. به گزارش وکیل او، در کیفرخواست او و همراهانش عناوین «تشکیل و اداره گروه معاند نظام، فعالیت تبلیغی علیه نظام و اخلال در نظم عمومی» آمده است. پس از این بازداشت، حکم قبلی محمودیان به اجرا گذاشته شد و وی ملزم به تحمل ۵ سال حبس شد.
در ۱۳ دی ماه ۱۴۰۲، مهدی محمودیان، زندانی سیاسی محبوس در زندان اوین، پس از سپری کردن ۲ سال و ۶ ماه حبس تعزیری آزاد شد.
