در تاریخ 18 دی 1398، پرواز شماره PS752 هواپیمایی بین المللی اوکراین که در حال انجام یک پرواز برنامه ریزی شده از تهران به کی یف بود، اندکی پس از برخاستن توسط موشک های پدافند هوایی سپاه پاسداران انقلاب اسلامی ایران هدف قرار گرفت و سقوط کرد. در این حادثه، تمامی 176 نفر سرنشین هواپیما جان باختند. ماریا میکیتوک یکی از اعضای خدمه این پرواز بود.
