Faezeh Hashemi

Faezeh Hashemi Rafsanjani was tried on November 30, 2022, by a branch of the Tehran Revolutionary Court for charges of assembly and collusion against national security, propaganda activities against the regime, and disruption of public order and tranquility through participation in illegal gatherings. She was sentenced to five years of imprisonment and a two-year travel ban. This sentence was confirmed by the Tehran Provincial Court of Appeals in early March 2023 and was communicated to Faezeh Hashemi Rafsanjani in Evin Prison.

This political activist was arrested by security forces on September 27, 2022, and transferred to solitary confinement in one of the security wards of Evin Prison for interrogation. After completing the interrogation and investigation stages, she was then transferred to Evin Prison to serve a one-year and three-month sentence from her first case, in which she was convicted on January 25, 2021, for propaganda against the regime.

On August 28, 2022, Malek Shariati, a member of the Article 10 Commission of the Parties Law, announced that Faezeh Hashemi Rafsanjani was banned from party and political activities due to her criminal record and the opinions of security agencies.

The imposition of this ban on the political activist occurred while, on July 3, 2022, the Tehran Prosecutor had announced the referral of Faezeh Hashemi Rafsanjani's case to court on charges of propaganda activities against the regime and insulting Islamic sanctities.

These charges against Faezeh Hashemi stem from her remarks on social media, where she criticized the current social situation in the country and the expansion of repression and security crackdowns.
