به گزارش حقوق بشر در ایران، امروز یکشنبه ۱۲ آذر ماه ۱۴۰۲، سام رجبی، فعال محیط زیست و زندانی سیاسی محبوس در زندان اوین، پس از اتمام دوران حبس تعزیری ۶ ساله خود، آزاد شد.
براساس این گزارش، آزادی سام رجبی، در پی اتمام دوران حبس تعزیری ۶ ساله این فعال محیط زیست صورت گرفته است.
لازم به اشاره است، سام رجبی یکی از ۸ متهم پرونده موسوم به فعالان محیط زیست است و در تاریخ ۲ آذر ماه ۱۳۹۸، توسط شعبه ۱۵ دادگاه انقلاب تهران، از بابت اتهام همکاری با ایالات متحده آمریکا به عنوان دولت مخاصم به تحمل ۶ سال حبس تعزیری و بعنوان مجازات تکمیلی به تحمل ۲ سال محرومیت خروج از کشور و ۲ سال ممنوعیت از فعالیتهای محیط زیستی محکوم شد. این حکم در تاریخ ۲۹ بهمن ماه ۱۳۹۸، توسط شعبه ۳۶ دادگاه تجدیدنظر استان تهران عینا تائید شد.
در تاریخ ۳۰ مهر ماه ۱۳۹۸، سی و ششمین جلسه دادرسی بر پرونده سام رجبی و ۷ تن دیگر از فعالان محیط زیست بعنوان متهمان این پرونده با ارائه آخرین دفاعیات از سوی وی پس از اعزام به شعبه ۱۵ دادگاه انقلاب تهران به ریاست ابوالقاسم صلواتی برگزار شده بود.
پرونده موسوم به فعالان محیط زیست، دارای ۸ متهم بود که ۴ نفر از آنها به اتهام افساد فی الارض ، ۳ نفر به اتهام جاسوسی و ۱ نفر به اتهام همکاری با دوول متخاصم متهم شدند اما در تاریخ ۲۰ مهر ماه ۱۳۹۸، محمدحسین آغاسی یکی از وکلای متهمان این پرونده اعلام کرده بود اتهام افساد فی الارض که می توانست منجر به صدور حکم اعدام برای متهمان این پرونده بشود از مجموع اتهامات ۴ نفر از متهمان این پرونده حذف شد و و همچنین این وکیل دادگستری از برگزاری جلسه دادرسی به اتهامات سام رجبی، امیرحسین خالقی، هومن جوکار، سپیده کاشانی، نیلوفر بیانی، طاهر قدیریان و عبدالرضا کوهپایه، خبر داده بود.
جلسات اول، دوم، سوم, چهارم و پنجم رسیدگی به پرونده ۸ تن از فعالان محیط زیست از بابت رسیدگی به اتهام جاسوسی از مراکز نظامی به ترتیب در روزهای ۱۰، ۱۳، ۲۳، ۲۴ و ۲۹ بهمن ماه ۱۳۹۷، به صورت غیرعلنی توسط شعبه ۱۵ دادگاه انقلاب تهران به ریاست قاضی صلواتی و با حضور مستشار دادگاه برگزار شده بود. در این جلسات کیفرخواست پرونده که به گفته سید کاظم حسینی، وکیل مدافع یکی از متهمان پرونده بیش از ۳۰۰ صفحه است، توسط نماینده دادستان تهران قرائت شده بود.

The case known as the environmental activists involved 8 defendants, with 4 accused of "corruption on Earth," 3 accused of espionage, and 1 accused of collaborating with hostile governments. However, on October 12, 2019, Mohammad Hossein Aghasi, one of the defendants' lawyers, announced that the charge of "corruption on Earth," which could have resulted in the death penalty for 4 of the defendants, was removed from the charges. The lawyer also reported on the court sessions held for Sam Rajabi, Amir Hossein Khaleghi, Houman Jowkar, Sepideh Kashani, Niloufar Bayani, Taher Ghadirian, and Abdolreza Kouhpayeh.

These sessions were conducted in private by Branch 15 of the Revolutionary Court of Tehran, presided over by Judge Salavati, with the presence of the court advisor. During these sessions, the indictment, which according to Seyed Kazem Hosseini, the defense lawyer for one of the defendants, exceeds 300 pages, was read by the representative of the Tehran Prosecutor's Office.
