Davood Abbasi Gheshlaghi

Davood Abbasi Qeshlaqei has been released on bail. This release was facilitated by the efforts of the legal support team of the House of Cinema, in cooperation with the judiciary and the prosecutor's office in Karaj.

It has been reported that Davood Abbasi, a filmmaker and cinematographer, was arrested in Karaj and sustained injuries to his eyes and spine during his detention. He was held in Ghezel Hesar Prison, and his physical condition was reported as unsatisfactory.

Davood Abbasi Qeshlaqei, one of those arrested during the protests in January 2026, was sentenced to 20 months in prison by the Revolutionary Court of Karaj. According to the issued verdict, with the application of the maximum penalty, 14 months of imprisonment was determined, of which 12 months have been suspended for two years.

According to the verdict issued by the second branch of the Revolutionary Court of Karaj, Davood Abbasi was sentenced to six months in prison for "propaganda activities against the Islamic Republic" and 14 months for "assembly and collusion to commit a crime against internal security." The ruling states that the maximum penalty, 14 months in prison, is enforceable, with 12 months of this sentence suspended for two years.
