On 8 January 2026, Abolfazl Esmaeili, and a resident of Mashhad, was shot and killed during protests on Resalat Street in Mashhad. Reports indicate that the bullet struck his heart, resulting in his immediate death.
His body was returned to his family and buried in the cemetery of the village of Farmad in the Tabadkan district of Mashhad. It has been reported that security forces required the title "martyr" to be inscribed on his gravestone as a condition for releasing his body.
Abolfazl worked as a hairdresser.
ابوالفضل اسماعیلی، اهل مشهد، در تاریخ ۱۸ دی ۱۴۰۴ در جریان اعتراضات در خیابان رسالت مشهد مورد اصابت گلوله قرار گرفت و درگذشت. گزارش ها حاکی از آن است که گلوله به قلب او اصابت کرده و او در همان لحظه جان باخته است.
پیکر او به خانواده اش تحویل داده شد و در آرامستان روستای «فارمَد» در دهستان تَبادکان مشهد به خاک سپرده شد. گفته شده که نیروهای امنیتی شرط تحویل پیکر او را حک شدن عنوان «شهید» بر سنگ مزار او قرار داده اند.
