According to Kurdistan Human Rights Network, on Sunday, November 5, 2023, Ghasem Abasteh, one of the Kurdish prisoners of conscience, was executed in Ghezelhesar prison in Karaj.
Ghasem Abasteh, who had spent the past 14 years in detention and prison, was previously sentenced to death along with 6 other Kurdish citizens in a joint case on the charge of "corruption" in a trial that human rights activists consider unfair trail.
According to Kurdistan Human Rights Network, this prisoner of conscience was transferred to solitary confinement on October 29, to execute the death sentence. The family of this political prisoner was informed of his execution in a phone call from the prison authorities on Sunday.
Ghasem Abasteh, 44 years old, father of 2 children and from Mahabad, along with 6 other Kurdish citizens from the cities of Saqqez and Mahabad, were arrested by the security forces and transferred to the detention centre of Orumiyeh Intelligence Department. These 7 prisoners of conscience were interrogated for about 8 months in this security detention centre. At the end of the interrogation period in the detention centre of the Orumiyeh Intelligence Department, these 7 prisoners of conscience were transferred to Tehran's Evin Prison and were interrogated for 6 months in the solitary cells of wards 240 and 209 of Evin Prison. These 7 prisoners of conscience were transferred to the Rajaei prison in Karaj after the interrogation period ended on April 13, 2012.
At the end of March 2015, the court session of these 7 prisoners on charges such as "action against national security, propaganda against the system, membership in Salafi groups and corruption in the land" was held in branch 28 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court under the chairmanship of Judge Moqiseh, and a verdict was issued on May 26, 2016. The execution was officially announced to them in prison.
The Kurdistan Human Rights Network says that these 7 prisoners of conscience were transferred to Ghezelhesar prison in August of this year after Rajaei prison in Karaj city was closed and evacuated. After being transferred to Ghezelhesar prison, he was living in a chaotic situation. Also, despite having thyroid cancer, he was deprived of medical treatment in prison.
به گزارش شبکه حقوق بشر کردستان، روز یکشنبه ۱۴ آبان "قاسم آبستە" از زندانیان عقیدتی کرد در زندان قزلحصار کرج اعدام شد.
قاسم آبستە کە ۱۴ سال گذشتە را در بازداشت و زندان سپری کردە بود، پیشتر و در روند دادرسی کە فعالان حقوق بشر آن را ناعادلانه می دانند بە همراه ۶ شهروند دیگر کُرد در یک پرونده مشترک به اتهام "افساد فی الا رض" به اعدام محکوم شده بودند.
بە گفتە شبکه حقوق بشر کردستان، این زندانی عقیدتی روز ۷ آبان برای اجرای حکم اعدام به سلول انفرادی منتقل شده بود. خانواده این زندانی سیاسی روز یکشنبه در یک تماس تلفنی از سوی مسئولین زندان از اعدام وی مطلع شده اند.
قاسم آبسته، ۴۴ ساله ، پدر ۲ فرزند و اهل مهاباد در ۱۶ آذر ۱۳۸۸ به همراه ۶ شهروند دیگر کُرد اهل شهرهای سقز و مهاباد توسط نیروهای امنیتی بازداشت و به بازداشتگاه اداره اطلاعات ارومیه منتقل شدند. این ۷ زندانی عقیدتی به مدت حدود ۸ ماه در این بازداشتگاه امنیتی مورد بازجویی قرار گرفتند. با پایان دوران بازجویی در بازداشتگاه اداره اطلاعات ارومیه این ۷ زندانی عقیدتی به زندان اوین تهران منتقل و به مدت ۶ ماه در سلول های انفرادی بندهای ۲۴۰ ، ۲۰۹ زندان اوین مورد بازجویی قرار گرفتند. این ۷ زندان عقیدتی با پایان دوران بازجویی در تاریخ ۲۵ فروردین ۱۳۹۱ به زندان رجایی شهر کرج منتقل شدند.
اواخر اسفند ۱۳۹۴ جلسه دادگاه این ۷ زندانی به اتهاماتی همچون "اقدام علیه امنیت ملی، تبلیغ علیه نظام، «عضویت در گروه های سلفی و افساد فی الأرض" در شعبه ۲۸ دادگاه انقلاب تهران به ریاست قاضی مقیسه برگزار شد و در ۵ خردادماه سال ۹۵ صدور حکم اعدام به آنان در زندان به صورت رسمی ابلاغ شد.
شبکه حقوق بشر کردستان می گوید کە این ۷ زندانی عقیدتی در مرداد سال جاری پس از تعطیلی و تخلیه زندان رجایی شهر کرج به زندان قزلحصار منتقل شدە بودند. او پس از انتقال به زندان قزلحصار در شرایط نا بسامانی بسر می برد. همچنین ایشان باوجود بیماری سرطان تیروئید از رسیدگی های پزشکی و درمانی در زندان محروم بود.
