Houshang Montazerolzohor

Hossein Montazeralzohour, a champion wrestler from Iran, was executed due to his support for the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran. He was born in 1953 in a middle-class family in Tehran. His family originated from Sedeh in Isfahan, but his father worked as a gardener and laborer in Tehran.

In 1970, after his father's retirement, Hossein moved with his family to Isfahan, where he completed his high school diploma in the natural sciences. He was accepted into the University of Tehran to study German language but had to work as a taxi driver to support his education, which led to him leaving the university and returning to Isfahan. In 1973, he was accepted into the University of Isfahan to study history and educational sciences.

During this time, he achieved first place in the national Greco-Roman wrestling competitions and later participated in the 1976 Montreal Olympics as part of the Iranian national team in the 82-kilogram weight category. A year later, he competed in the World Student Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria, and after returning from Sofia, he went into military service.

After the Iranian Revolution, he was appointed as the director of physical education at the University of Isfahan, where he became acquainted with the People's Mojahedin Organization. Due to his political activities, he was pursued by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. In the early hours of 15 August 1981, his home was raided, and he was transferred to the Isfahan Revolutionary Guard prison. After 50 days of torture, Hossein Montazeralzohour was executed in the early morning of 3 October 1981.
