Idris Mohammadzadeh was previously sentenced to five years and one day of imprisonment by the First Branch of the Mahabad Revolutionary Court on charges of "membership in opposition groups." This sentence was upheld after the case was referred to the Provincial Court of Appeal.
He was arrested on 23 February 2025, after being summoned to the Intelligence Office in Mahabad, and was transferred to a detention centre of this security agency in Urmia. He spent 45 days in solitary confinement under interrogation before being transferred to Mahabad Prison.
He was eventually released temporarily on 18 August 2025, after posting bail of five billion tomans, pending the finalisation of the verdict.
ادریس محمدزاده پیشتر توسط شعبه اول دادگاه انقلاب مهاباد بابت اتهام «عضویت در گروه های معارض» به ۵ سال و ۱ روز حبس تعزیری محکوم شده بود که این حکم پس از ارجاع پرونده به دادگاه تجدیدنظر استان عیناً تأیید شد.
وی در تاریخ ۴ اسفندماه ۱۴۰۳، پس از احضار به ستاد خبری اداره اطلاعات مهاباد بازداشت و به بازداشتگاه این نهاد امنیتی در ارومیه منتقل شده بود. وی ۴۵ روز را در سلول انفرادی و تحت بازجویی سپری نمود و سپس به زندان مهاباد منتقل گردید.
نامبرده سرانجام در تاریخ ۲۷ مردادماه ۱۴۰۴ با تودیع قرار وثیقه پنج میلیارد تومانی تا زمان قطعیت حکم به صورت موقت آزاد شده بود.
