Saeed Shah Qaleh, one of Iran's longest-held political prisoners, has spent more than a decade of his life in prison and under torture. Arrested on charges of membership in the People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran, Saeed Shah Qaleh is currently serving a life sentence in the infamous Mahshahr prison.
This political prisoner, whose situation has been less reported due to media censorship and the oppressive conditions of Mahshahr prison, is now in severe health danger.
He was arrested in 2000 on charges of collaborating with the People's Mojahedin Organization and was sentenced to life imprisonment. Throughout his imprisonment, Shah Qaleh has faced various forms of deprivation and repression.
He has been repeatedly denied the right to meet with his family and access to medical services, and has been subjected to torture and abuse.
In 2019, a letter from Shah Qaleh was leaked from prison, in which he referred to the harsh and inhumane conditions of the prison and his deteriorating health.

زندانی سیاسی سعید شاه قلعه از قدیمی ترین زندانیان سیاسی ایران است که بیش از دهه از عمرش را در زندان و شکنجه سپری کرده است. سعید شاه قلعه که به اتهام عضویت در سازمان مجاهدین خلق ایران بازداشت شده بود، اکنون در زندان مخوف ماهشهر دوران حبس ابد خود را طی می کند.
این زندانی سیاسی که به دلیل سانسور خبری مدعیان و نیز وضعیت خفقان آور زندان ماهشهر کمتر خبری از او منتشر نشده است اکنون وضعیت سلامت او به شدت در خطر است.
وی در سال ۱۳۷۹ به اتهام همکاری با سازمان مجاهدین خلق بازداشت و به حبس ابد محکوم شده است.شاه قلعه در طول دوران حبس خود با انواع محرومیت ها و سرکوب روبه رو بوده است.
او بارها از حق ملاقات با خانواده و دسترسی به خدمات درمانی محروم شده و مورد شکنجه و آزار قرار گرفته است.
در سال ۱۳۹۸، نامه ای از شاه قلعه به بیرون از زندان درز داده شد که در آن به شرایط سخت و غیرانسانی زندان و وضعیت وخیم سلامتی خود اشاره کرده بود.
