On Monday, August 7, 2023, political prisoner Masoumeh Sanoubar has been held in isolation in a two-person cell at Fardis Karaj Prison for about eight months. She was arrested in Karaj on December 13, 2022, and sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison.

A reliable source reports that the judge on her case is exerting pressure to keep her in strict conditions in quarantine at Kachouei Prison (Fardis Karaj), depriving her of outdoor time and contact with other prisoners, keeping her in solitary confinement.

The source adds that a few months ago, Masoumeh Sanoubar deposited nearly one million tomans into the prison's account for the treatment of her hand. However, despite paying for the treatment, she is being prevented from being sent to the hospital and receiving treatment for her injured hand.

Masoumeh Sanoubar, a resident of Tabriz, was among those arrested during the nationwide protests of 2022 in Karaj. She is married and the mother of a teenage daughter. She was arrested in Karaj on December 13, 2022, and transferred to the city's intelligence office. On Sunday, January 4, 2023, after about 40 days of interrogation, she was moved to Ward 4 of Fardis Karaj Prison (the women's ward of Kachouei Prison). She was accused of leading the protests.

This political prisoner was tried on March 5, 2023, by Branch One of the Revolutionary Court of Karaj and sentenced to 7 and a half years in prison on charges of "participating in actions against the country through membership in the People's Mojahedin Organization, engaging in propaganda against the regime by participating in illegal gatherings, engaging in propaganda and writing slogans, and distributing images of the leaders of the People's Mojahedin Organization."

Previously, on March 6, 2019, she was arrested in the city of Ilkhchi Osku and transferred to the intelligence detention center in Tabriz. She was interrogated and tortured at the IRGC intelligence detention center. As a result of flogging, she was unable to walk. Due to blows to her head, she suffered from blurred vision, and her shin was fractured. She was released in August 2019 on a bail of 600 million tomans until her court date.

Masoumeh Sanoubar was again arrested on February 5, 2020, without prior summons, from her sister's home and transferred to the IRGC intelligence detention center in Tabriz, where she was severely tortured and pressured. She was then transferred to the women's ward of Tabriz Prison and was released from this prison in 2021.

In October 2020, after female prisoners contracted COVID-19 at the central prison in Tabriz and were not quarantined, she also contracted the virus.
