On Saturday, June 29, 2024, Hossein Salami, born in 1999, a Sunni citizen residing in Khuzestan Province and a prisoner of conscience held in Sheiban Central Prison in Ahvaz, has been deprived of medical care following inadequate medical services in the prison's infirmary.
A knowledgeable source reported that Mr. Salami suffers from cardiovascular disease and has been repeatedly sent to the prison infirmary. However, due to limited medical equipment and the absence of a cardiologist there, he has been returned to the general ward. The prison's general practitioner stated that Hossein Salami needs to be sent to a hospital for specialized treatments such as an echocardiogram and other medical procedures. However, opposition from the Ahvaz prosecutor and the security officer handling the case has deprived this prisoner of conscience of the right to medical treatment and care.
The source also noted other health issues affecting Hossein Salami, including various infections in some parts of his body, digestive disorders, MS, tooth decay, sinusitis, diabetes, prostate issues, and a hernia, yet he is deprived of medical care.
It is worth mentioning that Hossein Salami was arrested by security forces in Khuzestan Province in January 2023. After being transferred to a central detention center of one of the security agencies in Ahvaz and undergoing interrogation, he was subjected to various forms of torture and violent behavior without access to medical services. Following the charges being explained by the prosecutor of the Ahvaz Public and Revolutionary Court, he was transferred to Ward 8 of Sheiban Central Prison in Ahvaz.

به گزارش حقوق بشر در ایران در روز شنبه ۹ تیر ماه ۱۴۰۳، حسین سلامی، متولد: ۱۳۷۸، شهروند اهل سنت، ساکن استان خوزستان و زندانی عقیدتی محبوس در زندان شیبان مرکزی اهواز، در پی ارائه خدمات درمانی نامطلوب در بهداری آن زندان، از هرگونه رسیدگی پزشکی محروم مانده است.
به نقل از یک فرد مطلع در گفتگو با گزارشگر حقوق بشر در ایران:”آقا سلامی از بیماری قلب و عروق در رنج است و طی این مدت به دفعات به بهداری زندان، اعزام شده ولی با توجه به محدودیت تجهیزات پزشکی و عدم حضور پزشک متخصص قلب در آن بهداری، مجددا به بند عمومی زندان بازگردانده شده است. با توجه به اعلام پزشک عمومی بهداری زندان، حسین سلامی باید برای انجام اقدامات درمانی تخصصی از قبیل اکو قلب و سایر اقدامات درمانی، به بیمارستان اعزام شود اما در پی مخالفت دادستان اهواز و ضابط امنیتی پرونده، این زندانی عقیدتی از حق درمان و رسیدگی پزشکی محروم شده است.”
این فرد مطلع در خصوص سایر بیماری های حسین سلامی خاطرنشان کرد:”از دیگر بیماری های این زندانی می توان به عفونت های گوناگون در برخی از نواحی بدن، اختلالات گوارشی، ام اس، پوسیدگی دندانها، سینوزیت، دیابت، پروستات و فتق روده، نام برد ولی او از حق درمان محروم است.”
لازم به ذکر است، حسین سلامی، در دی ماه ۱۴۰۱، توسط نیروهای امنیتی در استان خوزستان، دستگیر، و پس از انتقال به بازداشتگاه مرکزی یکی از نهادهای امنیتی ـ انتظامی در شهر اهواز و طی مراحل بازجویی ها در حالی که از حق دسترسی به خدمات پزشکی تحت انواع شکنجه ها و رفتارهای قهرآمیز قرار گرفت و پس از تفهیم اتهام توسط بازپرسی دادسرای عمومی و انقلاب اهواز به بند ۸ زندان شیبان مرکزی اهواز منتقل شد.
