Aida Farzaneh, who was born in Sanandaj, had a deep interest in Iran and its culture. During her visits to Iran, she often purchased handicrafts to take back to other countries. On one such trip, Aida bought an orosi mirror for her sister Elnaz, asking her to decorate a corner of her home in memory of Iran.
Aida and her sister Elnaz grew up together. After graduating from the University of Isfahan, Aida moved to Sweden for further studies. Both sisters received scholarships from a Swedish university and migrated there. Before leaving Iran, their father gave Aida a letter expressing love and hope.
In Sweden, Aida met Arvin, and their relationship led to marriage. She completed a master's degree in energy engineering and later migrated to Canada. Aida and Arvin lived in Montreal, where Aida worked as a researcher for a company.
In the winter of 2019, Aida and Arvin decided to visit Iran, with Elnaz joining them from Sweden. On 8 January 2020, Elnaz's flight to Sweden was scheduled a few hours after Aida and Arvin's departure. At the airport, news of Iran's attack on American bases in Iraq was announced, causing Aida concern for her sister.
At approximately 6:30 a.m. on 8 January 2020, an aircraft crashed near Tehran. Aida and Arvin lost their lives in the incident. Aida had hoped to teach at Iranian universities and become a mother. Before traveling to Iran, Elnaz had purchased a baby outfit in anticipation of her future niece or nephew, which she kept in memory. Following the incident, a photograph of a baby hat, part of the same outfit, was shared. Elnaz has kept this photograph as a memento.
آیدا علاقه ی زیادی به ایران و فرهنگ آن داشت. او در هر سفر به ایران، صنایع دستی خریداری می کرد و با خود به کشورهای دیگر می برد. در این سفر، آیدا برای الناز یک آینه ی اُرُسی خریداری کرده بود و از او خواسته بود که گوشه ای از خانه اش را به یاد ایران تزئین کند.
آیدا فرزانه در سنندج متولد شد و با خواهرش الناز بزرگ شد. او پس از فارغ التحصیلی از دانشگاه اصفهان، برای ادامه تحصیل به سوئد رفت. هر دو خواهر از دانشگاهی در سوئد بورس تحصیلی گرفتند و به آن کشور مهاجرت کردند. پیش از مهاجرت، پدر نامه ای به آیدا داد که در آن از عشق و امید سخن گفته بود.
آیدا در سوئد با آروین آشنا شد و این رابطه به ازدواج انجامید. او در رشته ی مهندسی انرژی فوق لیسانس گرفت و سپس به کانادا مهاجرت کرد. آیدا و آروین در مونترال زندگی می کردند و آیدا به پژوهش در یک شرکت مشغول بود.
در زمستان سال ۱۳۹۸، آیدا و آروین تصمیم گرفتند به ایران سفر کنند. الناز نیز از سوئد به آن ها پیوست. در روز هجدهم دی، پرواز الناز به سوئد چند ساعت پس از پرواز آیدا و آروین بود. در فرودگاه، خبر حمله ایران به پایگاه های آمریکا در عراق منتشر شد و آیدا نگران خواهرش بود.
ساعت حدود شش و نیم صبح هجدهم دی ۱۳۹۸، هواپیمایی در نزدیکی تهران سقوط کرد. آیدا و آروین در این حادثه جان باختند. آیدا آرزو داشت در دانشگاه های ایران تدریس کند و مادر شود. الناز پیش از سفر به ایران، لباسی برای نوزاد خریده بود که به یاد خواهرزاده اش نگه داشته بود. پس از حادثه، عکسی از یک کلاه نوزادی منتشر شد که بخشی از همان لباس بود. الناز این عکس را به یادگار نگه داشته است.
