Sajad Shahrabi

Sajjad Shahrabi was arrested at his family home by Ministry of Intelligence officers on 3 May. During the raid, a laptop, mobile phone, bank cards, and some US dollars kept in a home safe were confiscated. He was transferred to the Security Prosecutor's Office the same day, where he faced charges of assembly and collusion to promote propaganda against the regime and collaboration with opposition media. A temporary one-month detention order was issued, and he was moved to Ward 209 of Evin Prison. For 12 days, he was interrogated in solitary confinement regarding his sister's activities and media connections.

Sajjad Shahrabi began a hunger strike at the start of his detention, which he ended on the thirteenth day when he was moved to a communal cell. Concurrently, his father was summoned by phone to a Ministry of Intelligence office and questioned about his daughter's media activities, and his mobile phone was also confiscated.

On the first day of his detention, Sajjad Shahrabi objected to the temporary detention order. The investigator informed his family that the legal process would take longer due to his objection. On 20 May, the investigator warned him that if he did not withdraw his objection, he would not be released on bail. Three days after withdrawing his objection, the final defence session was held. Despite the detention order being changed to a bail order, the judge prevented the posting of bail and his release.

On 24 May 2023, as Sajjad Shahrabi was transferred to the general ward of Evin Prison, he was informed of a one billion toman bail. However, from that day, his family's entry to the interrogation room was blocked, preventing the posting of bail. It was later announced that his case had been sent to the Revolutionary Court for branch assignment. It remains unclear which branch of the Revolutionary Court will handle his case, and he will remain in Evin Prison until the court branch is determined or a court session is held.
